Composed of free-run and press-fractions found in both Mystae and Magna Praemia, the name 'Destinae' captures the essence of all Destiny Bay wines. Approachable at a young age, Destinae offers complex dark fruit aromas and has the potential to age for a decade or more.

WINEMAKER'S TASTING NOTES

Clad in a dark garnet with a blue tinge, this Destinae presents a chorus of aromas that range from crushed black cherries, to graphite and pencil shavings overlaid with French vanilla and underpinned with faint strawberry notes. On the palate, the wine is rich and generous with fine-grained tannins and concentration in perfect alignment. The mid-palate carries on with ripe red and dark fruit characters before giving way to a syrupy and honey-like texture with just a touch of dark chocolate on its lengthy finish. Once again, Destinae highlights the brilliance of fruit from the Destiny Bay site. Expect this wine to offer increasing complexity over the next 5-7 years in the cellar.

VINTAGE DETAIL

Mild winter and record early budburst.Cool and dry spring followed by hot and very dry summer including a well-timed rain event at veraison. Early and compressed harvest.
